Terms of use
Terms of Use
The short version. Noriba is free and independent. Its times are scheduled, not live, and alerts can be late or incomplete, so check official signs and announcements before you travel. The transit data comes from Sound Transit under its own terms, which also apply to you.
1. Agreement
These terms apply when you use the Noriba app or this website. By using either, you agree to them. The app is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple's EULA"). These terms add to Apple's EULA; where the two conflict about the license to the app, Apple's EULA governs.
2. Not affiliated with any transit agency
Noriba is made by Denis Ian Mapa, an independent developer. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Sound Transit, King County Metro, Pierce Transit or any other agency. Agency, line and station names appear only to identify the services and the source of the data.
3. Information can be wrong or out of date
- Times are scheduled, not live. They come from a published timetable built into the app, and trains may not run to it.
- Planned changes, disruptions and holidays may not be reflected. Service alerts come from Sound Transit's feed and can be delayed, incomplete or wrong.
- The map is a diagram. It isn't to scale and shouldn't be used to navigate on foot or by vehicle.
- Always follow signs, announcements and staff in stations, and check Sound Transit's official channels. Don't rely on Noriba where safety or timing is critical.
4. Sound Transit's data terms
The timetable, station information and service alerts are provided by Sound Transit and partner agencies under the Transit Data Terms of Use. Those terms come with the data, and by using Noriba you also agree to them. In particular:
- The agencies provide the data "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind.
- The agencies aren't liable for damages arising from the data, including indirect or consequential damages.
- The agencies may change, limit or stop providing the data at any time, without notice, and Noriba may then show less information or none.
- You may not use the data with malicious intent, to commit a crime, or to share personal information about transit workers or riders.
- You agree to hold Sound Transit and the agencies harmless from claims arising from your use or redistribution of the data.
5. Using Noriba
You may use the app and website for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't misuse them: for example, don't try to disrupt the website, get around security measures, or copy the app's design or content to build a competing product, except as the law allows.
6. Ownership and open-source software
The app's design, code, diagram and icon belong to Denis Ian Mapa. Some parts are open-source software provided under their own licenses, listed in the app's About screen: the Archivo typeface (SIL Open Font License 1.1), and SwiftProtobuf and the GTFS Realtime specification (Apache License 2.0). Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.
7. Price
Noriba is free. If we offer paid features in future, they'll be sold through Apple's App Store under Apple's terms, and you'll see the price and what you get before you buy.
8. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, Noriba and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
9. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Denis Ian Mapa isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for missed trains, delays or lost time, arising from your use of Noriba or this website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim and US$10. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Changes and ending use
We may update Noriba, change or stop features, or update these terms. If we change the terms, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date; continuing to use the app means you accept them. You can stop using Noriba at any time by deleting it.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and Denis Ian Mapa, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Noriba, its content, maintenance or support. For help, contact us.
